He was one of a small number of people to win an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award. His five-decade career spanned film, theater and television.
1931Chinese Soviet Republic proclaimedCommunists declare a rival state at Ruijin with Mao as chairmanThe First National Soviet Congress, meeting in Ruijin in Jiangxi, founded the Chinese Soviet Republic with Mao Zedong as its chairman. It controlled scattered rural base areas in southern China. Nationalist encirclement campaigns forced it to abandon Jiangxi in 1934 at the start of the Long March.
