2013Typhoon Haiyan strikes the PhilippinesOne of the strongest tropical cyclones on recordTyphoon Haiyan, known locally as Yolanda, made landfall in the central Philippines with sustained winds over 300 km/h, one of the most powerful tropical cyclones ever recorded at landfall. It killed more than 6,000 people and displaced millions, devastating the city of Tacloban.
