2002Central European floodsElbe and Vltava inundate Prague and DresdenDays of torrential rain in August 2002 caused the Vltava, Elbe and Danube and their tributaries to burst their banks across central Europe. Historic districts of Prague were evacuated and much of Dresden's old centre was flooded, with damage running into the tens of billions of euros. More than 100 people died across the region.
