1847 – 1933Annie Besant (1847-1933)Died 20 September 1933, aged 85British social reformer, Theosophist and campaigner for Indian home rule. She served as president of the Indian National Congress in 1917.
1862 – 1933Edward Grey (1862-1933)Died 7 September 1933, aged 71British foreign secretary from 1905 to 1916 who led Britain into the First World War. He is remembered for the remark that the lamps were going out all over Europe.
1885 – 1933Faisal I of Iraq (1885-1933)Died 8 September 1933, aged 48Leader of the Arab Revolt against the Ottomans, he was briefly king of Syria and then the first king of Iraq from 1921. He led Iraq to independence and League of Nations membership in 1932.

1933 – 1993Conway Twitty (1933-1993)Died 5 June 1993, aged 59Conway Twitty was one of the best-selling country music artists in history, scoring more number-one hits on the Billboard country chart than any other performer of his era. He also had early success as a rock and roll singer before shifting to country music in the 1960s. He collapsed and died shortly after a performance in Branson, Missouri.
