1861 – 1930Fridtjof Nansen (1861-1930)Died 13 May 1930, aged 68Norwegian explorer, scientist and diplomat who crossed Greenland and led the Fram expedition toward the North Pole. As League of Nations High Commissioner for Refugees he created the Nansen passport for stateless people. He received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1922.
