1930Pauli proposes the neutrinoA new particle is suggested to save energy conservation in beta decayIn a letter to physicists meeting in Tübingen, Wolfgang Pauli proposed that a light, neutral particle is emitted in beta decay. This would explain the apparent missing energy. Enrico Fermi later named the particle the neutrino, and it was detected in 1956.
