1914First scheduled commercial airline flightThe St. Petersburg-Tampa Airboat Line begins service in FloridaPilot Tony Jannus flew a Benoist airboat carrying a single paying passenger across Tampa Bay, inaugurating the world's first scheduled airline using a fixed timetable. The short-lived line proved that regular passenger air travel was commercially viable. It is widely cited as the birth of the airline industry.
