1855Battle of the ChernayaRussian attempt to break the siege of Sevastopol failsRussian forces attacked Franco-Sardinian positions along the Chernaya River in an attempt to relieve the besieged city of Sevastopol. The assault was repulsed with heavy Russian casualties. The defeat hastened the fall of Sevastopol less than a month later.
