1795 – 1842Thomas Arnold (1795-1842)Died 12 June 1842, aged 46English educator Thomas Arnold was headmaster of Rugby School, and his reforms shaped the Victorian public school. He was also a historian and the father of the poet Matthew Arnold. He died of heart disease the day before his 47th birthday.
