1774 – 1842Charles Bell (1774-1842)Died 28 April 1842, aged 67Scottish surgeon and anatomist Charles Bell did pioneering work on the nervous system. He showed that sensory and motor nerves are distinct. Bell's palsy, a facial paralysis, is named after him.
