1787 – 1874Francois Guizot (1787-1874)Died 12 September 1874, aged 86Guizot was a historian and statesman who served as prime minister of France under King Louis Philippe. His conservative policies and resistance to electoral reform contributed to the 1848 revolution that toppled the July Monarchy. He later devoted himself to historical writing.
1787 – 1848Pellegrino Rossi (1787-1848)Died 15 November 1848, aged 61Italian economist, jurist and politician, chief minister of the Papal States under Pius IX. He was stabbed to death on the steps of the Palazzo della Cancelleria in Rome. His murder led the Pope to flee the city.
